A book group for people in Sunnyside and Woodside, Queens (or those who want to come here). Any age, any gender, is welcome. This is a group for people who want to meet others every month or two to talk about a book we've all read (or mostly read. We know, sometimes you hate a book and you just can't finish it. Come tell us how much you hated it and why!), and get to know people near you.
I'm starting this group because I like to read, I like to have brunch and I like to meet people. Let's enjoy reading, discussing, and coffee!

Inspired by a recent story in the Wall Street Journal, about a long-running reading group in which the members read books aloud -- 35 or so pages a meeting -- they've read Dickens, Milton, Tolstoy, Faulkner, the Brontes, Eliot, Austen. In addition to the book we're reading (our first is The Transit of Venus), we've begun meetings by reading other short pieces or poems.
A book club to discuss (mostly) fiction books. Men & women of all ages welcome!
I cannot live without books. -Thomas Jefferson This is a casual and friendly group that enjoys meeting up at coffee houses in and around New Brunswick (Hub City). There are tons of book clubs, but I could not find a book club around Brooklyn that explored queer literature. Womp. As a lesbian, I would like to read books with characters and stories that I can empathize with, understand or at the least simply recognize. So I thought, fudge it, I will make my own group so I can explore queer lit. with my queer family. This Book Club will cover queer fiction and non-fiction. Some books will have clear queer main characters, while other books may be more subtle …

This is a book group targeted for young women and men in their 20s and 30s. We read books of every genre that members pick and then meetup on the last Monday of each month. We have gone to dinner, coffee, picnic, and movies related (and sometimes unrelated) to the books we are reading. Sometimes we'll try to organize a meetup with an activity that relates to the theme of our book. And, sometimes, we'll even create meetups to get together just for the fun of it. The point of this book club is …

Well, I run a book club and a movie club, but this group is really just to get together to do whatever...going to dinner, grabbing a drink or coffee, when we get to know each other more maybe game nights at someone's place, bowling and mini golf, going to events...you get the point. My hope is that people will join and suggest outings to me and I'll be able to create meet ups from those suggestions!!
We are a group of women and men (30s, 40s, 50s) who plan to meet together socially, for dining, conversation, coffee, movies, book reviews, etc. You don't need to live in Middle Village or Forest Hills to join, only to want to attend events in these areas, or surrounding areas of Queens.
Not all creative people are looking for criticism. Some just want inspiration, friends, and the chance to be creative with others who just get it. While originally a writers' group, this group is going to tour great coffee houses, where members will have the opportunity to do art or writing alongside each other. We'll be each others' cheerleaders on our journey, whether that be writing your memoir, standing in front of a microphone reading a poem or singing out loud, or just having friends to …
